Activity: Resetting a Moment

Overview

This activity helps couples recognise how they each respond when something feels off, and choose a simple way to reset in the moment.

Step 1: Choose your reset style together

Options:

  • Pause and check in

  • Say something and move on

  • Take a moment and come back

  • Keep it light

Step 2: What helps

Prompt:
“What helps you feel like things are back to normal?”

Each person selects up to two:

  • A quick check-in

  • Talking it through

  • A bit of space

  • An apology

  • A change in tone

  • Letting it go

Step 3: Compare

Display both people’s selections side by side.

Highlight:

  • Where answers are similar

  • Where they are different

Step 4: Choose your reset

Prompt:
“Choose one simple reset you want to use together”

Options:

  • “Are we okay?”

  • “Let’s reset for a second”

  • “I didn’t mean that the way it sounded”

  • “Did that land okay?”
